Breakdowns, battery and fuel problems on boats account for over 50% of the calls for assistance that Coastguard New Zealand receives each year.
Taking care of the basics helps to keep you safe and ensures your boat performs and lasts longer.
SPEAKERS
Boat maintenance: Rhys Sutton, Director/Service Manager, Fishing Boats NZ (and OBC member), and Jonte Hullena, Head Technician, Yamaha.
Rhys and Jonte will talk you through engine basics and provide an overview of other boat maintenance checks to do, including: hydraulic steering, fuel filters and lines, water pump, oil, batteries and electrics, flushing outboards (the best way), and trailers.
They'll also bring some static displays along.
Ask our questions on the night, or submit them in advance and they'll include these in the presentation. There's an option for question(s) when you register online, or you can email events@obc.co.nz
Harbourmaster: Marc Davis, Operations Manager, Harbourmasters Office
The Harbourmaster's Office is responsible for maritime safety in the Auckland region's harbours and waterways.
