The Outboard Boating Club of Auckland (OBC) is one of New Zealand's leading boating clubs.
It offers a strong sense of community, extensive member benefits, and outstanding facilities in a prime waterfront location just minutes from Auckland's CBD.
Members enjoy convenient access to the harbour, making the Club an ideal base for recreational boating.
Established in 1956, the Club has a long and proud history, including starting Auckland's first boat show, now the Hutchwilco Boat Show.
Today, the Club has approximately 1,650 members. New members are being accepted and interested boaties are warmly invited to apply.
The majority of members use the Club's premium launching facilities for their trailer boats which are stored off-site. There is a waitlist for permanent Hardstand boat parking at the Club. The marina comprises 214 berths for vessels up to 16 metres, which are available for purchase or lease, subject to availability.
The OBC is a not-for-profit incorporated society, governed by an Executive Committee in accordance with its Constitution.
The Club is managed by a dedicated team of 10 staff, led by a General Manager.
Committed to safety and conservation, the OBC supports Coastguard, Motuihe Trust, LegaSea and many other organisations.
The primary purposes of the Club are to:
(a) develop and encourage a high standard of safe boating practices;
(b) promote the sport of amateur boating and fishing;
(c) provide a medium for the exchange of boating information and advance the interests of boat owners;
(d) stimulate a greater interest in recreational boating and fishing and develop camaraderie amongst boating enthusiasts;
(e) develop and maintain facilities for boat owners including clubrooms, boat storage, launch and retrieve facilities, washdown and cleaning facilities, fishing facilities, and marina;
(f) promote and participate in the conservation of the coastal environment for the benefit of present and future generations; and
(g) generally undertake activities, and establish and maintain facilities, which may be deemed expedient, or which may be directly or indirectly incidental or ancillary to
the purposes of the Club
